Context
Given the potential challenges where energy and digital issues are closely linked, this project falls within the sectors of “Complex Systems and Software Engineering,” “Digital Creation,” “Eco-construction and environmentally high-performance neighborhoods” of the Île-de-France Regional Innovation Strategy – Smart Specialization (SRI-SI) and in the digital and eco-activities sectors of the Regional Economic Development and Innovation Strategy (SRDEI). It aligns with two priorities of the region: “strengthening SMEs/SMIs in Île-de-France” (with the participation of 6 SMEs) and “enhancing the region’s innovation potential.”
The Grid Power project takes into account the horizontal principles of the regional operational program of the European Regional Development Fund – European Social Fund (ERDF-ESF) for Île-de-France and the Seine basin, particularly sustainable development, which is central.

challenge
- Economic, with the strengthening of the smart networks and buildings sector, thanks to experimental sites allowing companies and researchers to demonstrate the added value of Île-de-France technologies, especially internationally
- Technological, with the improvement of the energy performance of eco-districts, thanks to local energy resources.
Objectives
The Grid Power project’s goal is to implement in situ demonstrators related to the management of the energy performance of buildings and the use of electric mobility organized in the form of a microgrid, i.e., an intelligent electrical network at the eco-district scale. The realization of these demonstrators will allow:
- Field validation of technological solutions from SMEs and laboratories, to develop a joint offer for managing the energy performance of eco-districts via a microgrid connecting buildings, electric vehicles, and end-users.
- Demonstration of the relevance and replicability of these innovations at different sites (Nanterre, Saclay, Sénart, and Le Perray), with a control room in Paris allowing the exhibition of French technological excellence to international actors.
Besides the demonstrators, this project aims to define decision-support tools for territories to design the most suitable compromise for the territory between supply security, cost, and renewable penetration. A study of the business model to jointly sell these technologies will be carried out, with the support of Durapole.
